On Saturday 4th October, the Salford community laced up their walking shoes and came together for Stroll for Salford, a six-mile sponsored walk organised by Foundation 92. Despite challenging weather, participants traversed city streets and finished in high spirits, helping raise £3,061 to support the charity’s community programmes.
The walk began at Hotel Football, Old Trafford, wound through Manchester city centre (including a stop at the National Football Museum), and concluded at Peninsula Stadium, home of Salford City FC, just in time for the club’s home fixture against Grimsby Town.
Each walker who completed the route received a commemorative T-shirt, a completion medal, and a complimentary ticket to the Salford City match that afternoon.
The Stroll for Salford fundraising campaign, sponsored by Camptech Products, has officially closed, having raised £3,061 to back the vital work of Foundation 92, the official charity of Salford City Football Club.
Standout fundraising performances included:
- Philip Lavelle — £400 (200% of target)
- Michael Lavelle — £300 (300% of target)
- Haroon Majid — £280 (280% of target)
Other contributors such as Kiaron Smith, Richard Lewis, and the team “Leanne & Ann” also helped push the total upward.
With the funds secured, Foundation 92 is now better positioned to deliver on its commitments, such as:
- Providing free health & wellbeing programme sessions
- Offering youth work interventions to reduce antisocial behaviour
- Running workshops and PE sessions in local schools
- Supporting individuals in progressing toward coaching careers
- Running multi-sports events for partner schools
The success of Stroll for Salford highlights the strength of community spirit in and around Salford. Foundation 92 has expressed heartfelt thanks to all walkers, volunteers, donors, and supporters. The event not only raised funds, but reinforced awareness of the foundation’s mission and the impact of their work.
