Foundation 92 Launches New Mobile Youth Provision to Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour Across Tameside

Foundation 92 has announced the launch of a new mobile youth provision across Tameside, funded by the Tameside Community Safety Partnership, aimed at reducing youth-related anti-social behaviour (ASB) and supporting young people to make safer, more positive life choices.

Working in partnership with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council (MBC), Foundation 92 aims to reduce and, where possible, eradicate youth-related ASB in a sustainable manner. The project will run 3 times a week over an initial 12-month period across the Tameside region.

The initiative will deliver a high-quality, proactive and responsive youth work programme in communities where youth-related ASB is most prevalent. By bringing mobile, place-based youth provision directly into local neighbourhoods, the project seeks to engage vulnerable young people, provide educational support, and create safe, welcoming environments for personal development.

Through interactive sessions and tailored youth engagement, the programme will deliver key educational messages around:

  • Personal safety awareness
  • Risk awareness
  • Understanding and resisting negative influences
  • The dangers and consequences of carrying weapons
  • The impact of anti-social behaviour on local communities
  • Positive decision-making and future planning

This mobile model allows youth workers to respond dynamically to emerging community needs, ensuring that the provision reaches those who are often hardest to engage. Beyond addressing immediate challenges, the initiative will help young people access wider youth work and support opportunities within the borough, ensuring that the outcomes of this programme are both sustainable and impactful.

Ricardo Silva, Community Programmes Manager at Foundation 92 said:

“This project represents our commitment to empowering young people in Tameside with the tools, confidence and opportunities to make positive choices. By delivering youth work directly into communities, we can build trust, reduce risk-taking behaviours, and create safer, stronger neighbourhoods for everyone.”

Sergeant Rob Froggatt, from GMP’s Tameside Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“Crime prevention is a fundamental part of policing, stopping criminality before it can occur and helping spread awareness of the risks associated. The Foundation 92’s mobile service will help keep young people off the streets, by providing a safe environment for them to have fun, educate themselves, and develop going forwards. This will be a fantastic tool in our arsenal to prevent ASB, by stopping young people from potentially taking part, to teaching them about the potential risks for themselves by engaging in it.”
