Finding Stability and Hope at the Foundation 92 Stockport Wellbeing Hub

When a participant first came to the Foundation 92 Stockport Wellbeing Hub, life felt overwhelming. They were struggling with anxiety and depression, often finding it difficult to get out of the house, and they lacked the structure and support to build a positive routine.

On top of these mental health challenges, the participant was facing practical barriers too including financial worries, uncertainty about how to access the right services, and the feeling that everything had to be navigated alone.

That’s when a probation officer referred them to the Hub.

At the Hub, the participant was welcomed into a safe and supportive space. Staff worked alongside them to understand their priorities and build trust. Together, they explored different activities to help manage wellbeing and spend time more positively.

They were encouraged to try group sessions, starting with the Wellbeing Workshop, where simple techniques for managing stress were introduced. Nervous at first, the participant found the group welcoming, and week by week their confidence began to grow.

The Hub also supported them to access the gym and become more active — something they said made a real difference to their mood and motivation. With a gym pass provided, they began attending regularly, telling staff they felt “better in myself every time I go.”

Alongside wellbeing activities, Hub staff supported the participant with the challenges that were weighing them down. They were signposted to specialist partners for financial advice, helped to explore volunteering opportunities, and given guidance around regaining their driving licence so they could return to delivery work in the future.

By combining emotional support with practical problem-solving, the Hub gave them the tools to take positive steps forward.

Today, the participant feels more stable and optimistic. They have peace of mind knowing that their benefits and finances are on track, and they have rediscovered the motivation to look after their mental health. Most importantly, they now believe they have a future worth working towards.

“Before coming to the Hub, I didn’t feel like I cared anymore. Now I feel like I’ve got some hope back. The support here has made a big difference.”

The participant continues to engage with activities at the Stockport Wellbeing Hub, and staff are confident they are on a positive pathway to independence and improved wellbeing.
