Young footballers at Foundation 92’s Kellogg’s Football Camp were given a day to remember when Salford City Academy Manager Jamie Russell joined the programme to deliver a special shooting masterclass.
Russell, who oversees the development of Salford’s academy players, led participants through a series of finishing drills, from clinical one-on-one chances to long-range efforts, encouraging youngsters to express themselves while improving their technique. The hands-on session gave attendees a taste of the professional environment enjoyed by Salford’s next generation of players.
Speaking after the camp, Jamie Russell said:
“It’s fantastic to come down and work with the young people at Foundation 92. Camps like these create the perfect environment for kids to fall in love with the game while developing their skills. If even one or two leave here more motivated to practice and enjoy football, then we’ve done our job.”
The camp, run in partnership with Kellogg’s and the EFL, continues to provide thousands of free places across Greater Manchester, giving children from all backgrounds access to high-quality football coaching.
Salford City’s strong link with Foundation 92 has become a defining feature of the club’s ethos, with both players and staff regularly giving their time to inspire and support the next generation. Russell’s involvement this week underlined the Academy’s commitment not just to developing talent for the future, but also to engaging with the wider community.
Foundation 92’s summer football camps run throughout the holidays, with further visits planned from Salford City players and coaches. Each session is designed to give youngsters more than just footballing skills – encouraging teamwork, confidence, and resilience.
