Loris’ Story: Building Confidence and New Opportunities

At Foundation 92, we support individuals to overcome barriers to employment by building confidence, developing practical skills, and creating supportive community spaces. Loris’ journey is a great example of how the right support can help someone move closer to their career goals. Funded through the Lawn Tennis Association.

Loris discovered the programme at a job fair in Stockport. Keen to return to full-time employment, he identified his main challenges as his CV and interview confidence. With support from the team, he worked on refining his CV, clearly highlighting his skills and tailoring it to different roles, while also taking part in mock interviews to build confidence and improve his technique.

Alongside this, Loris regularly attended the Foundation 92 Padel sessions, where he built confidence in a relaxed, social environment and developed strong connections with others. Over time, he even began supporting fellow participants.

Since joining the programme, Loris has seen a significant increase in interview opportunities and has progressed to second-stage interviews. While still working towards full-time employment, he now approaches interviews with much greater confidence and a clearer understanding of his strengths.

Reflecting on his experience, Loris said:
“Working with Foundation 92 has been a great experience for me… I’ve had support with my CV, interview practice and careers guidance. I feel much more confident and have really enjoyed the support throughout my job search. The Padel sessions have also been great — I’ve built friendships and developed a real interest in the sport. I would highly recommend it to anyone in a similar position.”

Foundation 92 staff member Declan Kip added:
“Working with such an enthusiastic and lovely person such as Loris has been an absolute pleasure. He has been fully engaged throughout and receptive to advice, and is hopefully close to achieving his goal of full-time employment. On a side note, he’s also been an extremely difficult Padel opponent!”

Loris’ journey highlights the value of combining employability support with opportunities to build confidence and community. We’re proud to support individuals like Loris as they take positive steps towards brighter futures.
