Martin Ingham-Griffith Appointed CEO of Foundation 92

Foundation 92 is delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Ingham-Griffith as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Martin joins Foundation 92 from his role as Head of Community Engagement at the Premier League Charitable Fund. A respected figure in the sector, Martin brings with him a wealth of experience in football-led community engagement, youth development, and social impact delivery across some of the UK’s most prominent football foundations.

Raised in South Manchester—just a short walk from Old Trafford—Martin’s journey into youth and community work began in 2008 in the wake of a deeply personal tragedy. That moment sparked a lifelong commitment to supporting young people and building safer, more inclusive communities through the power of sport.

Martin’s career in football began in 2012 with the Manchester United Foundation, progressing from a volunteer role to leading its Premier League Kicks programme. He went on to join City in the Community in 2018, where he managed a 35-person team delivering inclusive sport initiatives including Girls’ Football, Disability Sport, and Dementia programmes—reaching thousands weekly.

Martin joined the Premier League Charitable Fund in 2022, and has led flagship programmes including Premier League Kicks, the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association Community Fund, and the Premier League Fans Fund. He also played a key strategic role in the organisation’s partnership with the National Police Chiefs’ Council and has championed youth voice and race equity as Chair of the Premier League’s Race and Ethnicity Staff Network.

Yvonne Harrison, Foundation 92 Chair of Trustees – The board are delighted to be welcoming Martin to lead Foundation 92 through its next phase.  In a highly competitive field Martin stood out as someone who is not only passionate about using football for good, but also someone who cares deeply about changing lives specifically in Salford and Greater Manchester.

He brings extensive experience in the game, a fantastic network and a reputation for building strong relationships with both stakeholders and team members and we are confident Martin will continue to strengthen our reputation both locally and nationally.

Jonathan Jackson, Salford City Football Club Interim Chief Executive – We are delighted to welcome Martin to Foundation 92 and Salford City. We look forward to continuing our ongoing work alongside the club’s official charity to ensure our influence reaches far beyond the pitch, contributing meaningfully to the social, educational, and health landscape of our local community.

Martin’s career so far has focused on delivering impactful projects that support people to improve their lives through sport, and education. His passion to create opportunities for the diverse communities in and around Salford, forged from personal experiences, was clear to see during the selection process. We are excited at the prospect of working with Martin using the power of football to make a real difference to local people.

Martin will formally take up the role of CEO at Foundation 92 from 1st September 2025, leading the charity into its next chapter as we finalise our Game Plan for Good Strategy (2025-2028).

Martin commented:

“It’s an honour to join Foundation 92 at such a pivotal moment. Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand the powerful impact that football and club charities can have in transforming lives and strengthening communities. I’ve long admired Foundation 92’s commitment to using sport as a force for good, and I’m excited to lead the charity into its next chapter through the Game Plan for Good strategy. As someone shaped by this region and its people, I’m passionate about giving everyone in our community the chance to thrive, regardless of their background – and I believe Foundation 92, alongside Salford City Football Club, can play a key role in making that happen.”

Foundation 92 would like to extend its thanks to the Premier League Charitable Fund for their ongoing collaboration and support throughout this transition process. Find out more about the work of Foundation 92: https://foundation92.co.uk/
