Foundation 92 has chosen Liam Shephard as its PFA Community Champion for the 2022/2023 season following a season of outstanding support from the player.

The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Community Champion awards recognise those who have gone above and beyond for their club’s local communities.

Liam has been a fantastic supporter of Foundation 92 throughout the season. The defender attended hospital visits during Christmas time and spoke to patients receiving care over the festive period. He attended the Foundation’s Premier League Kicks sessions to spread his knowledge to young participants through coaching whilst also being interviewed by them at the sessions. 

Liam also met special guests of Foundation 92 on match days throughout thew season as part of the ‘My Special Day’ programme with Freekicks Foundation.

Liam Shephard said: “I’m extremely proud to receive this award. It’s nice to be able to give back to the community and to be recognised for it. I’ve enjoyed sharing my experiences with young people and helping them grow and develop. I’d like to thank Foundation 92 and The PFA for this award, I’m proud to be recognised for this community and I’m looking forward to help out more in the future.”
