Salford City Supporter Turns Prize Win into Lifeline for Local Homeless Charities

A Salford City FC supporter has turned a half-time prize win into a powerful act of generosity, helping some of the most vulnerable people across Salford this winter.

Lee Knowles, a Salford City FC season ticket holder, won a half-time competition before Christmas, securing £1,000 worth of Camptech Products vouchers. Rather than using the prize for himself, Lee made the selfless decision to donate the vouchers to support people experiencing homelessness.

Using the vouchers, Lee purchased sleeping bags to help those most in need during the colder months. When he arrived to collect the order, Camptech Products were so inspired by his generosity that they chose to match the £1,000 prize amount. This incredible gesture doubled the impact of Lee’s donation and allowed a total of 36 king-size sleeping bags to be purchased.

Today, the sleeping bags were officially presented to three charities working across Salford.

  • The Mayor of Salford’s Charities
  • Salford Loaves & Fishes
  • Emmaus Salford

All three organisations play a vital role in supporting individuals and communities affected by homelessness, providing warmth, shelter, food and ongoing support. Endorsed by the official independent fanzine of Salford City FC, the Old Dead Tree.

This act of kindness highlights the strength of community spirit within Salford City FC and the wider Salford area, showing how small moments can create lasting positive change when people come together.

Foundation 92 and Salford City FC would like to thank Lee Knowles for his generosity and Camptech Products for their outstanding support in helping to make this donation possible.
