Foundation 92 is delighted to re-launch its much-loved ‘My Special Day’ project for this season, made possible thanks to generous funding from the Free Kicks Foundation. This season, the funding will support 10 unforgettable matchday experiences for young people from Foundation 92 partner schools across Salford & Greater Manchester.
The My Special Day project is designed to give children who truly deserve it the chance to feel special, valued and celebrated. Each experience will see one young person from a partner school chosen to become a Salford City FC matchday mascot at a home fixture during the season, completely free of charge.
Children selected will receive the full VIP matchday treatment, including a free Salford City FC shirt, the opportunity to walk out onto the pitch alongside the players before kick-off, and the chance to take part in half-time activities on the pitch. To make the day even more memorable, free match tickets will also be provided for family members, allowing loved ones to share in the experience.
The first My Special Day of the season took place today (Saturday 13th December), with a young person, Rizwan, from Lewis Street Primary School enjoying the mascot experience at a Salford City FC home game. Schools are invited to nominate a child who they feel would benefit most from the opportunity, along with the reason for their nomination.
Speaking about the project, James Hill, Head of Media & Communications at Foundation 92 said: “My Special Day is all about giving children an experience they’ll never forget, something that builds confidence, creates joy, and makes them feel truly valued. We’re incredibly grateful to the Free Kicks Foundation for making these opportunities possible once again this season.”
