Salford City FC Match Day Experience Season Review

It’s been a fantastic season for the Salford City FC Match Day experience programmes run by Foundation 92!

This season Foundation 92 launched several new programmes in partnership with Salford City FC and FreeKicks Foundation.

These programmes have provided individuals in the community with the opportunity to experience Salford City FC match days through a variety of initiatives. These initiatives have included the SCFC Match Day Hub, My Special Day, Team of the Week and Little Lions.

The SCFC Match Day Hub, has ran prior to every Saturday home game this season, and has seen over 500 visits from children and families from the local community. The hub has had a variety of fun activities including zorb football, top bin targets and 5-a-side games.

The My Special Day initiative is a programme ran in partnership with Freekicks Foundation, aimed at young individuals between the ages of 7-14 who have gone through or are enduring significant challenges in their lives.

The chosen individual gets a unique matchday experience at the Peninsula Stadium with Salford City FC. They have the opportunity to meet the Manager and First Team players, join in the match activities at the Hub prior to the game, become the official mascot for the match, whilst also receiving four match tickets and a Salford City FC shirt on behalf of Salford City FC, Foundation 92 and Freekicks Foundation.

Team of the Week is an initiative that involves bringing local grassroots teams to the Peninsula Stadium to watch Salford City FC, whilst representing the club as the Team of the Week for each match. The chosen grassroots team also joins in the fun at the Match Day Hub prior to the game.

Finally, throughout the season Salford City FC players have been visiting local schools across Salford to meet ‘Little Lions’. Each game a school in the local area is selected, and the year 3 class of that school represents the club at Match Days as the Little Lions. The class receive SCFC t-shirts and tickets to a chosen home game to attend as a class. The club alongside Foundation 92 has visited 17 schools this season, supporting over 500 children.

We look forward to continuing these programmes alongside Salford City FC and FreeKicks Foundation next season.
