Participation & Community Engagement, Partnership

Foundation 92 launches Friends, Food and Foundations programme in partnership with Clarion Futures.

Running out of Sutton Community Centre, Foundation 92 will be providing daily drop-in on weekdays from 2 January, with every session including a free meal.

The programme is funded by Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group which owns and manages hundreds of homes locally. Clarion has launched a Cost-of-Living Emergency Fund to support its residents, awarding funding to partners to deliver projects including warm spaces like this one.

These sessions are FREE to access and are aimed at families in the local community.

They consist of the following:

  • An early morning Breakfast Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a free breakfast provided by Kellogg’s.
  • A Brew & Biscuits session during the day on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to meet members of the community, have a brew, a biscuit, and a catch up.
  • An evening session called Time 4 Tea on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays that includes a free hot sandwich.

Foundation 92 and Clarion Futures have developed this programme to support those most in need this winter during the cost-of-living crisis. The initiative is designed to provide a warm and safe environment for individuals whilst also providing free meals throughout the day.

Head of Foundation 92, Tom Hutton, said: “Foundation 92 is committed to supporting the holistic wellbeing of its community. Recognising the need to bring people together in a safe and welcoming environment, we are delighted to be launching a number of free to access services which will help local residents keep warm and make social connections. Thanks to Clarion Futures for helping us to support those most in need.”

Matt Parsonage, Head of Communities at Clarion Futures, said: “With temperatures dropping and energy prices continuing to rise, initiatives like this one being delivered by Foundation 92 are so important. Opening the doors to the community centre and running these sessions will not only help people to keep warm but will also provide opportunities to meet new people and reduce loneliness and isolation. We’re delighted to be supporting the programme and look forward to continuing our work with Foundation 92 within the community.”

Keep your eyes peeled for further development as we help people lead healthy and positive lifestyles as we look to #KeepManchesterWarm this winter.
