On Wednesday the 29th of June, the Foundation hosted an event alongside 1st CENTRAL at Albert Park, Salford, to celebrate Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
Several schools from across Salford came together to celebrate the diversity of the local community.
Co-Founder of Foundation 92, Gary Neville, alongside our partners 1st CENTRAL, held a questions and answer session with the schools to talk about their experiences of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and to speak about the importance of Inclusion in everyday life.
All attendees then took part in several sporting activities including athletics, football, dodgeball, and multi-skills alongside 1st CENTRAL staff.
Foundation 92, Co-Founder, Gary Neville, said: “The idea behind Foundation 92 was to try and infiltrate as much of Salford as we possibly could do, to impact communities, to address different societal issues.
“We can teach people a lot through sport and football, particularly at these types of events.
“Naturally when you make children aware of their surroundings, they accept that we are all different and we do all have different characters and personalities, but we all must be accepting of each other and tolerant of each other.
“I always promote football and sport, in general, as being the answer to a lot of problems that can happen in society.
“We must make sure that we see sport as being the solution for many of the societal issues and problems and actually sport should see itself as being something that’s powerful to help eradicate, these issues that we have in communities”.
1st CENTRAL Programme Director, Zuzana Clark, said: “I think today was a fantastic event to bring children and communities together. It’s been a fantastic day. You can see the kids really enjoyed it. It’s really great to see.
“So, 1st CENTRAL has supported the Foundation for several years and we found it important to support the community. Our office is based in Manchester.
“We have over 400 employees and they are they all live in Manchester, they live in the communities, they support the communities and we do a lot of volunteering in the area.“And I think it’s important to bring people together and make sure that we support the community and the people who are underprivileged in the Manchester area”.
