The Peoples Postcode Trust, funded by the Peoples Postcode Lottery has awarded Foundation 92 with funding to deliver the ‘It’s Good to Talk’ programme.

The ‘It’s Good to Talk’ programme will involve Foundation 92 engaging with over 20 Salford based primary schools to provide mentoring, guidance, and support on how to cope and thrive in the community.

In particular, the programme aims to help young people to develop new coping strategies, understand emotions, and importantly helping them develop stronger, positive, friendships with peers in school and in the community.

‘It’s Good to Talk’ will focus on helping individuals to overcome daily challenges that they may face.

The programme will be delivered by qualified counsellors, supported by the Foundation 92 Health and Wellbeing Team with the aim of supporting people that have been identified as facing additional challenges in their lives of which this programme will help to improve their mental and physical wellbeing.

Foundation 92 will work with over 400 young people in primary schools over the next 12 months, with each primary school receiving a range of specialist interventions, from one-to-one support to whole class education programmes.

Head of Foundation 92, Tom Hutton, said “I’d like to thank Laura Chow, from the People’s Postcode Lottery, and the Postcode Trust who have helped support the commencement of the ‘It’s Good to Talk’ programme.

“The past two years have been very challenging for young people, who have faced significant isolation and time away from society. This programme aims to equip young people with the knowledge, confidence, and ability to thrive and achieve their potential in the community.

“Everyone at Foundation 92 is delighted to be offering a free counselling service for some of Salford’s most vulnerable young people, helping them to lead healthy and positive lifestyles.”

Laura Chow, People’s Postcode Lottery’s Head of Charities, said “Taking care of young people’s mental wellbeing is more important than ever so, I am thrilled that funding from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery is going towards organisations like Foundation 92.

“This grant will help support some of the most vulnerable people in the Salford area and will help Foundation 92 to make a positive impact on young people’s lives.”
