Walking Football

Foundation 92 runs its own men’s and women’s Walking Football Teams.

Age: 50+     Duration: All year Round

The football teams seek to support individuals with cardiac rehabilitation and stroke rehabilitation, whilst additional sessions of the sport have been introduced including female walking football and many more.

The teams coincide with the Foundation’s current Dementia Friendly Walking Football sessions run in partnership with Age UK and Age UK Salford.

The team recently represented the Foundation at the EFDN Walking Football Tournament at Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s Training base competing against 13 other Community Foundation teams.

The team also competed and won the Iron Mountain Sporting Memories Walking Football Competition.

Both men’s and women’s teams have played against Newcastle United Foundation, Sunderland FC,

Nottingham Forest Foundation and Leeds United Foundation in friendlies and tournaments.

The team has recently visited Dublin and London to take on Bohemians, Bray Wanderers, Arsenal and Fulham.

In other fixtures, the F92 team has played against Bolton, Maccabi, Wythenshawe and Chadderton.

Upcoming fixtures: The teams will be playing against Bolton Arena, Rose Walkers, Chatterton & Wythenshawe, Nantwich, Maccabi and Farnworth.

The men's team has entered the Lancashire Over 50's league and this begins in November. The team has also entered into a Manchester FA tournament in December. The first fixture of the league campaign saw F92 take on White Rose Walkers, winning 2-1.

The women's team recently took part in the Manchester FA tournament, with star player Kat, winning player of the tournament!

Sessions for the men’s team run on Wednesdays at 11:00-12:00, at Salford Sports Village.

Sessions for the women's team, run on Thursdays at 20:00-21:00 at Salford Sports Village..
