Foundation 92 team up with BUPA Foundation

Foundation 92 are delighted to launch a brand-new Community Champion volunteering programme with Bupa Foundation.

Following on from the success of the Family Health programme – which aims to help families to lead healthy, positive and progressive lifestyles – the Foundation are proud to introduce a new volunteering element to our health and wellbeing projects.

The programme is based around mental health, the principles of nutrition and the benefits of physical activity, covering both practical and theory-based exercises to ensure full understanding of topics.

Bupa Foundation will be supporting their Champions to volunteer in a number of programmes, allowing them to make a positive impact on the lives of people within the local community.

Each Champion will be buddied with families and tasked with helping them to create and take sustained steps to improve their mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

The support of the Bupa Foundation Champions will have a valuable impact that lives up to Bupa Foundation’s commitment to investing in the health and wellbeing of the local community.

Champions will each volunteer a minimum of four hours per week, passing on their skills, expertise and knowledge to those involved in the programme, while creating positive and beneficial relationships with participants to improve their own experience and individual journeys.

Head of Foundation 92, Tom Hutton, said: “We are delighted to be working with Bupa Foundation and welcoming community champions to support our family health improvement programme.

“The champions will play a key role in providing families that are participating with advice, guidance and support, helping them to lead healthy and positive lifestyles.

“We are also supporting the champions to develop their own personal life skills – such as confidence, communication, leadership and mentoring – that potentially they don’t get to develop within their day job.”

Anna Russell, Bupa Foundation Director, said: “We are super proud to support Foundation 92’s brilliant work. We’re committed to providing practical coaching that will help make a positive difference to people living and working in Salford. We’re also grateful to all our amazing volunteers who are sharing their time and expertise.”
