Salford City midfielder wins the award for his work across the local community this season.
We are delighted to announce that Jon Taylor has been named our PFA Community Champion for the 2024/25 season.
Taylor has demonstrated outstanding dedication and enthusiasm in his community engagement efforts throughout the year. His commitment to supporting a wide range of local initiatives has been truly commendable, and his consistent involvement has made a meaningful impact. Earlier this season Jon took up a new additional role at the club, as the new Inclusion Ambassador for Foundation 92.
Whether visiting schools, taking part in our campaigns, attending community sessions, or engaging with fans and participants from diverse groups, Taylor brought a positive attitude and an infectious smile to every interaction as a fantastic role model both on & off the pitch.
Foundation 92 supports various initiatives in Salford & Greater Manchester and focuses its activities on supporting communities to improve their lives through sport, education and more. Our work has an emphasis on positive physical and mental wellbeing, areas that Taylor is only too happy to help support and champion.
When receiving the award Jon Taylor said:
“I’m really happy to have won the award. The work isn’t something I have done to win the award; it’s something I like to do. I enjoy helping people out and giving back to the community as much as possible. It’s nice to get recognition for the work – It’s a great award to receive.
“I think it’s so important to be the best person you can be. I’m a footballer – that’s my job, people always think the best thing you can do (as a footballer) is to be the best player you can be, and that goes without saying. But if you can do more in your spare time to become a better person, help in the community and put smiles on people’s faces – I do that with the young lads at the football club, helping them become better players and better people – if I can do that with the community it makes me feel better.”
Maheta Molango – CEO Professional Footballers’ Association said:
“The PFA has once again been immensely proud of the outstanding efforts of players this season and we feel they should be recognised for their support and involvement in the local community. The Award will hopefully raise awareness of the importance many of our members attach to their roles off the pitch and highlight their continued commitment to support those most in need along with engaging in areas where they have a personal interest. We would like to offer our congratulations to this season’s recipient of the 2024/25 PFA Community Champion Award.”
Thank you to Jon and all the Salford City FC players who have attended Foundation 92 Events this season.
